ShimDigital™
ShimDigital is a solo brand with me, Jack De Cinque, as its founder and only member. I’m a recent Animation and Game Design graduate from Curtin University with a primary focus on 3D modeling and texturing for game engines.
This website serves as a place where I can share my work and progress as a 3D artist, in a fully custom environment.
Thank you for checking it out :)
“When the Smoke Lingers” is the title of group project I did for an Assessment at Curtin University. This was an animation project where I was tasked with modelling, texturing, staging, and rendering 3D assets and scenes to be used as backgrounds for a majority of the animation.
I was required to create assets and materials that would fit in with a highly stylised 2D animation, as well as animate and render 3D camera shots according to a storyboard supplied by my team members. *2D Character assets created by team members.
My final university project where I was required to create a creative project of my choice for a mock client brief. I chose to create a 3D game level within Maya and Unreal Engine 5. These levels would be depicting a small area of modern Tokyo.
This was by far my most ambitious university project. The scope was simply much larger than anything I had done until this point, requiring me to bring together everything that I had learned and combine it into cohearent vision.
This sculpt was a product of an assessment at Curtin. Using a single provided drawn character reference, I was tasked with creating a full character sculpt from scratch. This required making design decisions in order to adapt a 2D drawing into a fully 3D model.
For this project, I was required to utilise only Zbrush for all modelling, sculpting, and texturing purposes.
A university project requireing me to model and texture assets, combine them into a scene, create lights, and render shots of a 3D scene designed by me.
This project served as a vital learning oppourtunity for me in the area of Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials as well as rendering scenes using Maya’s “Arnold” renderer.
A short 3D animation project created for a University assessment. This task required me to source 3 Pre-existing Maya-compatible, rigged character models and create a 3D animation inside of Maya. I had to write and create a storyboard for the sequence based on a provided audio clip, which would need to be integrated into the animation.
This task had me creating storyboards, a 2D animatic, and full, audio-synced, animations in Maya for 3 separate characters. The background layout and scene was not an assessed part of this project.
